Ever heard the saying “if I have checks, I can spend money”. Well, now it’s “I’ve got a debit card, I’ve got money to spend”.

Normally, I do. After all the bills are paid I have a pre-paid card all the leftovers go to for what I like to call my “play” money.  Unfortunately, with the way I have set up my accounts, each comes with debit card and that’s not always a good thing.

The goal for May’s Monthly Money challenge is to only carry the slush money card and my cash envelope money.  I’m only four days into this challenge and it’s not as easy as I thought it would be. There is a temptation to transfer any left over in the main accounts to the slush…that is a no-no.

Setting limits sucked as a child and it’s even worse as an adult.

But, on the plus side, my little piggy bank is getting pretty heavy!!!!

Ooof! I hear ya! I need to start doing that more and we keep talking about doing that for our household spending as well.. since we got a decent chunk of change back from the Gov., it may be time to bite the bullet and start using the envelopes. (besides, misery loves company, no? 😉
