Nothing better about staying home sick than updating the blog. I seem to have caught a seasonal sinus infection and combined with the adrenal fatigue…I am just wiped out. I am piled high with blankets and pillows, permanently ensconced on my sofa. Between watching Nate and Martha, drinking tea and squeezing saline into my nose, I thought I would do a bit of a catch up on my blog.
Besides, I promised I would introduce you to my Etsy project. Let’s start with the back story…who doesn’t love a back story.
Just about a month ago I was watching an episode of HGTV’s Great Rooms called Born Again Bohemian. It was an episode show casing a young couple with a wonderful loft space in Chicago. The lady of the house is an art student who was making handmade inserts for her wedding invitations. I thought, “wow, that is cool” and set aside the episode for future reference since it was of a Bohemian style. Then I caught an episode of Nate Berkus about starting a second career. Again, my thought was “wow, that is cool”. I did not correlate the two until I went to bed…and I could not sleep. Ugh! It was one of those toss and turn kind of nights that you know you have to get up and write things down so you can get some rest.
And that is just what I did. Thus began my Etsy project. I created JJDouglasPaperCo. Here is where I share a bit of my quirky past with you. As a child I had an imaginary friend called Jelly Jelly Douglas…so I named my company after him. It’s an inspired thought and I just ran with it. I have have been making handmade envelopes for the past twenty years or so. It was generally as a gift or as an insert to a scrapbook page. And lord knows I have an abundance of scrapbook paper. Thus far I have three sets available and will start adding more. I hope you have the time to check it out. I can use the feedback and any constructive criticism you may have.
I am very excited about this whole process and am learning to embrace the creative side of myself. I have been denying my creativity for far too long. No longer going to hide behind my sisters creativity. We are both wonderful artists…we just have different ways of expressing it!
I am sure you may have also noticed a change in the look in my blog. WordPress has some really unique looks and I thought this was rather awesome so I changed the look once again. Along with that, each year I try to find something that I can buy myself for Christmas. This year, I gave myself my domain for Dragonfly Keep. I HAVE A DOMAIN! I am looking forward to 2012 with this blog. In the coming weeks I will be planning out my 2012 ReDesign Challenge for my apartment and financial life. Since, i have the sniffles today I am probably going to work on the outline and get it ready to introduce to you in the coming weeks.
I hope the Christmas season is full of good tidings and lots of happiness!
